Biography – Bryan Cooperrider
In our modern world, the simple act of answering the question “what do you do?” can define our existence. For me, that question is not easily answered, and why should it be answered at all? Trained as an engineer at Stanford University, with a graduate degree in product design (also from Stanford), the path from there to here has been littered with numerous “jobs”- archaeologist, engineer, surveyor, designer, educator, musician, artist, handyman, and more…. But what gets me most excited is creating. We don’t have to choose just one place to apply our creative skill set. I continue to work professionally as an artist, musician, designer, improvisor, and an educator. I have had wonderful mentors in all these disciplines, and I will continue to share my work here as it evolves.

Artist Statement:
We live in a world of staggering beauty. We live in a world of breathtaking waste. The two often interwoven. The world presents its beauty through nature, and we perceive it through our senses – sound, sight, feel. We have returned our waste, often a product of the human maladies of greed, inequality, fear, desperation. My work is inspired by this connection. I try and recreate beauty out of “waste”, often mimicking the world around us. I hope that this simple message will inspire people to stop and think about the world we live in and what role we each might play. I still believe in beauty.
