I was fortunate to enjoy a monthlong artist residency in Feb of 2025 in the Canary Islands with AIRGuiniguada (excellent hosts and excellent fellow artists!) It was there that I began my jump into street art. I have always admired street artists, yet since I don’t paint I have struggled to determine where I might participate. As we were showing our portfolios to each other and talking about what are goals for the month were, a colleague looked at the cork creatures I had made and told me of a street artist in Berlin adding cork figures in yoga poses to outdoor structures. Bingo! I received an ARTX Flagstaff grant to develop Flagstaff Incursion! The figures will be up permanently, but will debut in May of 2026.
